LAS VEGAS (AP) - Will Farrell runs for re-election and punches a baby in his new election comedy “The Campaign.”

That’s right. He punches a baby.

Footage from “The Campaign” was screened Tuesday in Las Vegas at CinemaCon, a conference for theater owners.

The summer flick features Zach Galifianakis running to unseat Farrell in the U.S. House.

Director Jay Roach says the comedians approached him about doing a movie together without a story.

Roach says they considered portraying wrestlers or reality TV producers, but settled on candidates because American politics are funny.

Roach says they filmed during the GOP presidential debates and were worried they wouldn’t be as comical as reality.

In the preview, Farrell tries to punch Galifianakis before he can kiss a baby.

When Galifianakis ducks, the baby gets it.
