SAUCIER, MISS. (AP) - The first round of the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic has been delayed more than four hours because of soggy conditions at Fallen Oak.

About four inches of rain drenched the course on Thursday, cancelling the pro-am event. The opening round of the tournament was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. CDT on Friday, but has been pushed back to 2:30 p.m. The weather is supposed to improve through the weekend.

The course has been closed to the public for Friday’s round.

Defending champion Tom Lehman, Fred Couples, Loren Roberts and Kenny Perry headline the 81-man field that includes 28 of the top 30 from last year’s Champions Tour money list.
