Grade: A

“This is simply a great week for President Obama. A part of the job of both being president and campaigning for re-election is stealing the buzz. He did it big time this week with his endorsement of gay marriage. Of course, those who vote against him will be more energized but we are still in the phase of both candidates shoring up their base. He needed more energy from young people and from gays — he will get it. As for Hispanics and blacks who are very unsupportive of gay marriage, the president’s numbers are already good and secure there. Will blue collar workers in Ohio, North Carolina and Pennsylvania be turned off? Sure, but are they going to come rushing to the aid of a Romney whom they don’t really trust? More than anything else, Obama acted boldly, something his critics have said he doesn’t do enough. Last week was a D+.”
