Why is anyone surprised by President Obama’s announcement that he is for same-sex “marriage” (“Gay marriage gives Romney chance to fire up base,” Web, Sunday)?

Mr. Obama told everyone in December 2011 where he stood on homosexuality when he signed the bill enacted by the Democratic-controlled Congress that repealed the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. The bill essentially said there is nothing abnormal with homosexuality and we will indoctrinate the rest of the military and punish anyone who disagrees with us on this.

Acceptance in the military is the door to acceptance by the rest of the country. How can we deny equal rights to someone willing to fight and die for our country? This is precisely what helped change the voting age from 21 to 18. The Democrats have now made it possible for homosexuals to use the same argument.

The repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” the legalization of same-sex marriage in various Democratic-controlled states and the recent announcements by Democrats all tell us where they stand on homosexuality. This is in direct opposition to God’s word.

You can’t truly accept God’s word in the Bible and still accept the Democratic position on this matter. The majority in that party believes there isn’t anything abnormal about homosexuality, that it is acceptable to murder innocent unborn children by abortion and that all good things come from the government, the supreme authority on what is good and evil.
