FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a California man has been arrested in Arizona after nearly two pounds of high-grade marijuana was found in his rental car.

Pinal County Sheriff’s officials say 25-year-old Vonheinrick Geneve of San Francisco, is being held on suspicion of marijuana possession, transportation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale.

It was unclear Tuesday if he has a lawyer.

A sheriff’s deputy stopped the car Geneve was driving on Interstate 10 in the unincorporated area of Eloy for a traffic offense.

The deputy reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and noticed a clear film canister containing marijuana in the car’s open center console.

Authorities say a search of the vehicle turned up a backpack containing 1.88 pounds of hydroponic marijuana and a digital scale.
