HAVRE, Mont. (AP) - A Havre man has made an initial appearance on a charge of deliberate homicide in the death of his girlfriend.

The Havre Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1jxpdfi ) 25-year-old Jordan Carlson appeared in City Court on March 26 to face the felony charge. City Court Judge Virginia Seigel set Carlson’s bail at $250,000. His next court hearing is set for April 24.

Carlson was arrested on March 23 after his brother called police. Dustan Carlson called 911 to say his brother called him and told him he killed his girlfriend.

Charging documents say Jordan Carlson told police he strangled 35-year-old Dawn Beeman after a brief argument.

Judge Seigel issued an order to appoint a public defender in the case.
