SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A 28-year-old Syracuse man has admitted killing a man he found with his estranged wife and to kidnapping the woman and taking her to Pennsylvania before letting her go.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (https://bit.ly/1s2djxT ) that George Alfred pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder and kidnapping charges on the day his trial was scheduled to begin.

Alfred used a shotgun to kill 33-year-old Corey Hill last June inside the home of Alfred’s wife, Tanya Alfred. Authorities say Hill and Tanya Alfred were co-workers. Hill had escorted her home when her husband used the gun to blast his way through the front door.

Alfred kidnapped his wife and drove her to Pennsylvania, where he let her go. He later turned himself in.

Alfred faces 20 years to life in state prison when he’s sentenced.
