MADISON, Ohio (AP) - A northeast Ohio man plans to claim he was insane when he allegedly beat and strangled a neighbor earlier this year.

The (Willoughby) News-Herald (https://bit.ly/1pDYgs0) reports than attorney for 25-year-old Marvin Lambert Jr. has filed a motion with the court in Lake County indicating he plans to enter the insanity plea.

The attorney asked for a mental evaluation. Prosecutors have not yet responded.

Police say Lambert killed 46-year-old John Funari, whose body was found on Jan. 11 at the Madison Inn in Madison Township. Lambert and Funari both lived there and were often seen together, police said.

Police have not talked about a possible motive. Lambert is being held with a $1 million bond.
