EDMOND, Okla. (AP) - University of Central Oklahoma national champion wrestler Casy Rowell has been named Central Region Wrestler of the Year.

The selection was made in a vote of the region’s 17 head coaches and announced Tuesday.

Rowell is now one of four regional winners on the ballot for NCAA Division II National Wrestler of the Year.

The 133-pound Rowell won the national title March 15 in Cleveland with a 3-2 overtime victory over defending champion Daniel DeShazier of Nebraska-Kearney. Rowell was named the tournament’s Outstanding Wrestler.
