MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Still weighing a possible run for president, independent U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders told a New Hampshire crowd he doesn’t shy away from a platform based on a socialist agenda.
The two-term senator from Vermont spoke Saturday at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College. He told the crowd it was “profoundly wrong” that the United States is the only major country that does not guarantee health care coverage as a right of citizenship.
WMUR-TV (https://bit.ly/1hwlPBh ) reports Sanders also said the country is in danger of being dominated by big money interests.
New Hampshire traditionally hosts the nation’s first presidential primary and the institute is a frequent stop for politicians on the primary circuit.
Sanders hasn’t said whether he would run as a Democrat or independent.
