ANALYSIS/OPINION:

I concur with Robert Knight (“Recovering the meaning of marriage,” Web, April 4), but think we need to go further and simplify his message.

Marriage was defined before governments. It is the coming together of a male and female to make a family. Granted, children do not always come from a union, but the intent of marriage is procreation.

A state marriage certificate has nothing to do with this arrangement. A certificate is simply a property contract should the marriage be dissolved. Two same-sex people may get a marriage certificate, but they will never participate in a true purpose of marriage, namely, procreation.

When I present this to homosexuals, they call me names, but the hollowness inside of them speaks to the truth.
