Beach Boys to perform at Newport Concert Series

NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) - The Beach Boys are coming to Newport this summer for the first time in five years as part of the Newport Concert Series.

Series organizers announced on Monday that the southern California rock band will perform on Aug. 16. Tickets are due to go on sale at noon Thursday.

The Beach Boys last performed locally at Naval Station Newport in July 2009.

Michele Maker Palmieri, Newport Yachting Center’s general manager, said Monday that organizers tried to book the Beach Boys for years and the schedules finally matched.
