LOS ANGELES (AP) - Fog pressing close in along the Southern California coast has hampered flights at Los Angeles International Airport.

The airport’s official Twitter account said at late morning Tuesday that due to low visibility a ground stop was put into effect for some LAX-bound flights. The ground stop affecting flights of an hour or less was lifted about a half-hour later.

The region began the week with warming under high pressure, but the National Weather Service says increasing onshore flow will bring low clouds and fog as well as cooler temperatures through Saturday.

Forecasters say warmer weather will return late in the weekend and continue into next week.
