DURHAM, N.H. (AP) - A poll shows a majority of New Hampshire residents approve of the job that Gov. Maggie Hassan is doing.

The WMUR Granite State Poll by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center finds 59 percent of adults approve of Hassan. Twenty percent disapprove; 22 percent are neutral or don’t know.

Three percent have a favorable opinion of Walt Havenstein, a Republican who announced his gubernatorial candidacy Wednesday. Four percent have an unfavorable opinion, 4 percent are neutral and 89 percent don’t know.

Republican Andrew Hemingway announced his candidacy in January. Seven percent have a favorable opinion; 5 percent have an unfavorable opinion; 4 percent are neutral; 84 percent don’t know.

The phone poll of 507 randomly selected adults from April 1-9 had a margin of sampling error of 4.4 percent.
