MERIDIAN, Miss. (AP) - A Friday afternoon shooting in Meridian was the second in the city in as many days.

One victim was shot Friday at 1:30 p.m. outside a Meridian home The Meridian Star reports (https://bit.ly/1jU4aTA).

Witnesses said a car sped away from the location immediately after the shooting. The man was taken to a hospital for emergency surgery.

A day earlier, 24-year-old Luther Graham of Meridian was fatally shot on a Meridian street. A 21-year-old man was arrested Friday and booked with murder in Graham’s death.

Meridian Police Department Lt. John Griffith said police have a good description of the vehicle spotted after the Friday shooting. They are looking for a person of interest in that case.

“There is a concern the victim may have some paralysis as a result of his injuries,” Griffith said.

“I was working on this house when I heard three shots,” said a witness who wished not to be identified. “I ducked inside the house and looked out the window. I saw a man lying on the ground and saw the car speed off. I got the license number of the car and gave it to police who were arriving.”
