SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Snow is causing problems for motorists in western South Dakota, and the eastern part of the state could be in for another round of snow later this week.

The National Weather Service issued an advisory for western South Dakota on Wednesday morning, with as much as 5 inches of snow expected. The Rapid City Police Department said traffic was almost at a standstill on some main roads, and that officers had responded to several weather-related accidents.

The weather service posted a winter storm watch for much of the eastern third of the state on Thursday, with up to 9 inches of snow possible, along with gusty winds.

A system that passed through late Sunday into early Tuesday dumped several inches of snow in western and northeastern South Dakota.
