LANSING, Mich. (AP) - State wildlife officials have approved two projects to remove one dam and renovate another.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources said this week the Timberland Resource Conservation & Development has been awarded $250,000 for the Hubbardston Dam removal project on Fish Creek in Ionia County.

The department’s fisheries division also has received $100,000 to pay for the Foch Lake Flooding Dam renovation project in Montmorency County.

Officials say the Dam Management Grant Program projects are designed to improve aquatic environments and fishing opportunities.
