BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities in southwestern Michigan say they’ve arrested two Benton Harbor men who got in a gunfight and wounded a 12-year-old girl.

The Herald-Palladium of St. Joseph (https://bit.ly/1h0pS8j ) says the shooting happened Friday afternoon in Berrien County’s Benton Township. The newspaper says the girl was shot in the hip and was in stable condition at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.

Township police Detective Lt. Brian Smit says police arrested 24-year-old Jakeeme Griffin and 18-year-old Juan Hassel Jr. The county jail says Griffin is being held on a $40,000 bond on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm, while Hassel is being held on a $30,000 bond on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

It’s unknown if the suspects have lawyers.
