DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware Lt. Gov. Matt Denn says he will seek the attorney general’s office.

Denn announced Monday that he has filed with the state elections commissioner to be a Democratic candidate in the race this year.

The announcement comes just days after Attorney General Beau Biden announced he would not seek a third term and instead focus on a run for governor in 2016.

Denn, who is in his second term as lieutenant governor, says the attorney general’s office will allow him to take a leadership role on issues that are critical to Delaware, while staying involved in issues that affect the state’s children.

State Prosecutor Kathy Jennings has also said she is considering a run.
