DETROIT (AP) - Secretary of State Ruth Johnson has paddled a kayak in the Detroit River to promote state park passes and services offered by her office.

Johnson paddled from Belle Isle to Milliken State Park in Detroit on Friday.

Under a lease with the city, Belle Isle became Michigan’s newest state park this year and is being maintained by the Department of Natural Resources. The $11 recreation passport allows vehicles to enter state parks all over the state.

Johnson also is pushing ExpressSOS.com, which allows customers to buy license plate tabs, replace lost driver’s licenses, change addresses and get other services.
