SANDY, Utah (AP) - About 4,000 Republican delegates are gathering in Sandy for their state nominating convention Saturday to pick the party’s candidates for four congressional seats and nine legislative races.

The convention at the South Towne Expo Center starts at 10 a.m.

Former Saratoga Springs Mayor Mia Love, one of the most-watched candidates in Utah this year, will face off with businessman Bob Fuehr. Both are vying to replace outgoing Democrat Jim Matheson, who represents the 4th Congressional District.

The state’s three other U.S. House representatives, Republicans Rob Bishop, Chris Stewart and Jason Chaffetz, will try to hold onto their positions Saturday against several challengers.

Utah’s acting Attorney General Sean Reyes will also cement his place as the GOP’s nominee for that office.
