ATLANTA (AP) - Singer Tank and Syleena Johnson of “R&B; Divas: Atlanta” kick off the Road to Essence Festival tour with free performances.

The event on Saturday in Atlanta will be held to promote the annual festival in New Orleans, which occurs July 4th weekend. This is the first stop of a four-city tour that will visit Chicago, Dallas and Laurel, Md.

Festivities will also include live music from Avery(asterisk)Sunshine along with panel discussions. Radio personality Ebony Steele, music exec Shanti Das and Dr. Sherry Blake are expected to speak at the event.

The Essence Fest is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The popular festival is known for its music performances and free Empowerment Experiences - seminars covering topics including finance, parenting and politics.
