CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (AP) - A Christiansburg man has been sentenced to six months in prison for threatening to bomb an apartment because he was being evicted.

Twenty-one-year-old Caleb Elijah Haxton was sentenced Tuesday in Montgomery County Circuit Court after entering a guilty plea.

The Roanoke Times reports (https://bit.ly/1iyrQJh ) that Haxton was arrested in November after the threat was reported to police. Christiansburg police searched his apartment and found a suspicious device.

Prosecutors say the device was later detonated and determined to be a hoax device. They say Haxton told police that he made the device and had intended to use it as a scare tactic.

Haxton was sentenced to seven years in prison with all but six months suspended, followed by seven years of supervised probation.
