STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) - Bulloch County authorities say two assistant sports coaches at Statesboro High School are accused of having sexual relationship with teenage girls.
The Statesboro Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1iBB9xZ ) 25-year-old assistant girls’ soccer coach Jeffrey Crowder was arrested on a sexual assault charge Wednesday.
Authorities say the school’s assistant football coach is also wanted for similar charges in a separate case. Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner says both men are accused of having sexual relationships with 16-year-old girls.
Bulloch County schools officials say Crowder resigned from his position before the relationship was reported and authorities say a warrant is out for the second man’s arrest.
In a statement, superintendent Charles Wilson said both men passed extensive background checks before working for the district.
It’s unclear if Crowder has an attorney.
