FAIRFIELD, Ala. (AP) - Police say a shooting inside a shopping mall in Fairfield may have resulted from a prior argument between the shooter and the victim.

WBRC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1mYZteZ) a man was hospitalized with serious injuries Tuesday after someone shot him outside a Foot Locker store at the Western Hills Mall.

Fairfield Police Chief Leon Davis Jr. says officers took a suspect into custody. He says the victim appeared to have been “targeted” and that the two men involved may have had a previous disagreement.

Witnesses said they saw two men having an argument at the store before one of them left and returned with a gun. Bystander Valdez Jackson said he heard three shots.

The names of the victim and suspect were not immediately released.
