FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Reckless homicide charges have been filed against the man who authorities say caused a crash that killed a Fort Wayne teenager as he fled from a bar where he shot another man.

Allen County prosecutors filed the charges Thursday against 35-year-old Jeremy Washington of New Haven stemming from last weekend’s crash that killed 17-year-old Haley Nellum.

The Journal Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/PwooYK ) Washington also faces attempted murder counts charging that he shot at an SUV holding three people with whom he had an argument at a Fort Wayne bar. One man suffered a gunshot wound to the neck.

Police say Washington ran a red light and slammed into Nellum’s car.

Washington told police the shooting was in self-defense. He is jailed and it wasn’t clear whether he had an attorney.
