ATLANTA (AP) - Forecasters say a cold front is likely to end the recent stretch of warm weather and could cause severe storms heading into the weekend.

National Weather Service officials say thunderstorms Friday could produce strong wind gusts in some areas north of a line stretching from Columbus to Athens.

Meteorologists say scattered thunderstorms are a possibility in middle Georgia Friday night, but the storm system is expected to weaken later in the day.

Forecasters say they expect the cold front to hover over south Georgia Saturday, which could produce thunderstorms in south central Georgia.
