VISTA, Calif. (AP) - A gang member involved in gunning down a teenage couple in an Oceanside park has been sentenced to 20 years in state prison.
U-T San Diego (https://bit.ly/1kxWgyz ) says 36-year-old Kenneth Hamilton was sentenced Friday. He pleaded guilty last fall to voluntary manslaughter.
Authorities say Hamilton and others went looking for gang rivals in 2011 at Libby Lake Park. Prosecutors say they mistook 14-year-old Sandra Salgado and 16-year-old Fernando Solano, who had no gang ties.
The actual shooter, 22-year-old Robert Bejaran (bah-SHAR’-ahn), earlier pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
A third man, 21-year-old Justin Gibson, was sentenced in January to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter.
