ST. CHARLES, Ill. (AP) - A former Batavia man has pleaded guilty in exchange for an eight-year prison sentence in the heroin-related death of a friend last year in South Elgin.
Nicholas C. Allen pleaded guilty to the drug-induced homicide of 24-year-old Abbey Nordmeyer of South Elgin on April 4, 2013.
Prosecutors say the 22-year-old Allen and Andrea R. Nielsen, 24, drove to Chicago that night to purchase heroin and took it to Nordmeyer’s home where they ingested it. The two awoke the next day about 11 a.m. to find Nordmeyer dead.
Nielsen is charged with drug-induced homicide. She next appears in court May 14.
According to Illinois law, Allen must serve 75 percent of his sentence. He receives credit for 304 days served since his arrest.
