WESTLAND, Mich. (AP) - Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says an Afghanistan war veteran instigated a fight in which he was beaten up by three men outside a suburban Detroit convenience store.

Worthy said in a release Tuesday that no charges will be filed against the men and the 25-year-old Army veteran “was the initial aggressor.”

Adam Wagner told Westland police that the men made derogatory comments about the U.S. military on Thursday in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven. Police say Wagner was treated for a broken nose and other injuries.

The three men were later arrested.

But Worthy says “the complainant was the largest man and he began the fight by striking the smallest of the three men.”

The men fled and were chased more than a half-mile where the fight resumed.
