House Speaker John A. Boehner on Friday invited President Obama to deliver an in-person State of the Union address to Congress on Jan. 20.

It will be Mr. Obama’s sixth State of the Union address, and his first time addressing a Congress where Democrats no longer control either chamber.

“Your report will inform our efforts to address the people’s priorities,” Mr. Boehner said in his official invite letter.
