SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - San Jose police say a parolee with a warrant out for his arrest was taken into custody after barricading himself inside a home for 11 hours.

The standoff ended around 5:20 a.m. Monday when a SWAT team entered the home and arrested 42-year-old Mark Daniel Cuellar.

Police tell the San Jose Mercury News (https://bit.ly/1bjghJt) the incident began the previous evening when someone called 911 to report seeing Cuellar near the home.

Officers evacuated neighboring homes and tried to persuade Cuellar to surrender. But they say he refused to come out.

The Mercury News reports that Cuellar has at least five criminal cases in Santa Clara County dating back to 2007, though the nature of the charges was not immediately known.
