CASCADE, Iowa (AP) - A machine shed fire near the eastern Iowa city of Cascade caused at least one explosion and sent a plume of smoke into the sky that was visible for miles.

The Telegraph Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1dFYtSZ ) the fire started Tuesday morning and drew crews from Cascade, Bernard and Monticello.

Firefighters had to endure temperatures below zero as they tried to contain the fire to a building housing several tractors and other machinery.

Smoke billowed from the site and there was at least one explosion.

The fire destroyed the machine shed but no one was injured. Cattle kept near the shed also were unharmed.

Cascade Assistant Fire Chief Ben Frasher says the homeowner was out of state.
