NEW YORK (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the New York metropolitan area for late Wednesday night through Thursday night.

Between four and eight inches of snow should start falling by late Wednesday night, possibly mixing with rain on Thursday.

Meteorologists predict winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts as high as 40 mph for the New York City area.

The Department of Buildings is advising property owners and contractors to secure construction sites.
