STILLWATER, Pa. (AP) - Authorities in eastern Pennsylvania say 3- and 8-year-old girls were killed when their mother lost control of their minivan and it collided with another vehicle.
Police said a minivan driven by 28-year-old Amanda Haskell of Berwick was headed south on Route 487 when she apparently lost control around 9 a.m. Friday near Stillwater in Columbia County.
The van slid sideways across the oncoming lane and was struck by a work van, crushing the minivan’s passenger side.
The Columbia County coroner’s office says 8-year-old Abigail Haskell and her 3-year-old sister Charlotte died at the scene. Their mother was hospitalized in fair condition and another daughter, 5-year-old Allison, was critical.
State police say the investigation continues into the crash. Officials have not said if the crash was weather related.
