SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - The Illinois State Police is warning motorists to travel with caution this weekend because of continued snowfall and icy conditions.
The agency announced late Friday roads throughout Illinois will be icy and those who have to travel should reduce speeds.
Conditions along Interstate 55 in central Illinois will be especially hazardous because of icy and snow-covered roadways.

Authorities say motorists should monitor road conditions before leaving and remember to keep emergency items in the car.
They say speed is a contributing factor for accidents when conditions are wet and slick.
Also, motorists should yield to emergency and snow removal equipment. State law requires drivers to proceed with caution, change lanes if possible, and reduce speed.
Stranded motorists should stay inside their vehicles to await emergency help.
