TOOELE, Utah (AP) - The Utah Highway Patrol says three people were killed in a two-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon on State Road 36 in Tooele County.

According to troopers, the vehicles collided near the intersection of the highway and Stansbury Parkway after one of the vehicles crossed into the oncoming lane.

Troopers say three other people were seriously injured in the crash that forced the closure of both lanes of the highway.

Medical helicopters rushed the injured to the hospital, where their conditions were not immediately known.

The victims’ names and hometowns were not immediately released.

The 3:15 p.m. accident is under investigation.
