Rates to rise at county’s multi-purpose building

MCCOMB, Miss. (AP) - With rentals increasing, Pike County supervisors have voted to raise rates at the county multipurpose complex.

The Enterprise-Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1e401GK) rates for the building’s two smaller rooms will go up $50 - from $100 to $150 for a half day and from $150 to $200 for a full day. For the main room, half-day rates go from $250 to $300, and the security deposit goes from $100 to $200.

County administrator Andrew Alford said the previous rates were not covering the actual cost of using the building.

The new charges will affect applications beginning March 1.

The increases were included in the revised “exercise plan,” which supervisors approved Friday.

Another change was putting the county administrator’s office in charge of building rental instead of the Pike County Economic Development District.

Alford said that’s because the economic district recently split from the Pike County Chamber of Commerce and no longer has sufficient staff to show the building to prospective renters.

Supervisors also approved four rentals for the building: a National Wild Turkey Federation banquet, South Pike band banquet, a birthday party and a wedding.

They also approved a six-month renewal of the security contract with Delta One Security for $15 per man-hour.
