OXFORD, Ohio (AP) - A new student center at a southwest Ohio university will hold a dedication ceremony and open house on Friday.

Miami University officially opened its new Armstrong Student Center last week at the campus in Oxford, about 30 miles north of Cincinnati.

The three-floor building offers new meeting rooms, offices for student organizations and a theater among other services. Food services include a 1950s-style diner.

The university says two-thirds of the project was funded by more than $32 million from donors, with a $115 per semester student fee supplying the rest of the financing.

A second phase of the project will include more meeting rooms, career services and another dining facility. The university expects to complete that phase by 2017.
