FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - Fairbanks North Star Borough warns that the air quality in North Pole this weekend is expected to be unhealthy for sensitive groups.

That means the elderly and people with respiratory or heart disease should limit prolonged exertion.

The borough says particulate pollution will be more concentrated in neighborhoods where a lot of wood and coal burning is occurring, and also in parking lots if cars are idling.

The air quality in Fairbanks is projected as “moderate” for the weekend.
