DELTA, Ala. (AP) - Cheaha State Park is getting back into business after an ice storm knocked out power and toppled hundreds of trees.

Officials say the park atop Cheaha Mountain near Anniston will partially reopen on Saturday.

Workers have restored electrical service and cleared away storm debris. But half of the park’s trails remain closed because of damage, and repair work remains to be done.

Some of the park’s visitors this weekend will be volunteers helping out with the recovery effort. But a 50K ultra marathon race also is planned on Saturday.

Officials say the damage to the park was the worse since Hurricane Opal in 1995.
