ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Transportation officials plan to hold a public meeting about how they can improve traffic at one of the busiest intersections in the North Carolina mountains.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reported (https://avlne.ws/1mlbPLs ) that the North Carolina Department of Transportation will have a public meeting Tuesday about how to improve the Interstate 26 interchange with state Highway 191 south of Asheville.
Officials worry if traffic grows, congestion on the off ramps waiting to turn on NC 191 will spill on to I-26.
The DOT says the interchange improvements are a high priority, but officials can’t say when work might start because the agency is re-examining its priorities on what projects get built first.
