TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A suspect in a Tucson bank robbery has died after being shot while hiding from police.
Tucson police Sgt. Pete Dugan says employees at a Chase Bank reported that a man walked in Saturday wielding a handgun and ordered a teller to give him money.
Dugan says after receiving an undisclosed amount, the suspect fled on a bicycle.
He says a bank customer followed the suspect and pointed him out to an officer.
Authorities say officers searched for the suspect in a nearby neighborhood and found him in the shed of a resident’s backyard.
Dugan says multiple shots were fired and the suspect was shot.
The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at a hospital.
No officers were injured.
