OHATCHEE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say two brothers from Jacksonville drowned while fishing in the Coosa River in Ohatchee.

Calhoun County coroner Pat Brown tells The Anniston Star (https://bit.ly/1epeqO0 ) 44-year-old Xao Le and 28-year-old Cong Le died when their canoe overturned.

Brown says the brothers and a cousin were fishing with nets when something caused the canoe to overturn just after 1 a.m. Sunday. The cousin, who had stayed on the bank, left to call for help. When he returned the men had disappeared.

Xao Le’s body was found caught in the nets attached to the canoe around 2 a.m. Cong Le’s body was found around 7 a.m. under water not far from where the canoe flipped.

Brown says neither man was wearing a life vest and the water temperature was about 47 degrees.
