WAUGH, Ala. (AP) - Alabama state troopers say a wreck on Interstate 85 left an 11-year-old girl dead and injured four others.

The Montgomery Advertiser (https://on.mgmadv.com/1pjSz3g ) reports the crash happened around just after 12:15 p.m. Sunday about three miles south of Waugh.

Troopers said Nature Knight of Montgomery died from injuries suffered in the crash. Troopers say Knight was a passenger in a car driven by 35-year-old Lametric Willetta Maddox, who was injured. A second passenger in Maddox’s vehicle, 12-year-old Charletta Griffin of Montgomery, was also taken to a hospital with injuries.

Troopers say the Toyota Corolla Maddox was driving collided with a Jeep Liberty driven by 29-year-old Joy Brooks of Lanett. Brooks and her 2-year-old daughter, Heaven Brooks, were also taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries.

Troopers were investigating the crash.
