LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) - A person at a Lancaster County college has been diagnosed with tuberculosis.

Franklin and Marshall College said Monday that they believe only a small number of students and staff may have been in contact with the infected person. The school didn’t identify the person or say whether the person was a student or employee.

Tuberculosis is a contagious bacterial infection that usually attacks the lungs. It is spread through the air and can be fatal if not treated properly.

College officials said they think only a small number of students and staff may have been in contact with the infected person. They said the person is no longer on campus and has returned home.

Screening tests will be administered next week.
