IUKA, Miss. (AP) - Tishomingo County Schools Superintendent Benny McClung is retiring June 30.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports ( https://bit.ly/1k3sT72 ) McClung replaced Malcolm Kuykendall as superintendent in July of 2012. McClung had served as a teacher, coach and principal in the Tishomingo County School District.

McClung says in a statement that he has spent 36 years in education with 24 of those years in Tishomingo County schools.

After having positions in Tishomingo County, McClung served as principal of Saltillo Elementary School, then assistant superintendent of Lafayette County Schools.

He went on to other education roles with the state and the University of Mississippi, before returning to take the superintendent’s position two years ago.
