COLONIE, N.Y. (AP) - State transportation officials are holding a public hearing on a plan to reconstruct an interstate highway exit near the Albany airport.
The Department of Transportation is proposing to replace the bridges that carrying Interstate 87, the Adirondack Northway, over Albany-Shaker Road at Exit 4, just down the road from Albany International Airport.
The bridges carrying the Northway’s southbound and northbound lanes were built in 1959 and are located along the busiest stretch of the highway just north of Albany in the suburban town of Colonie (kah-luh-NEE’).
DOT officials say construction could start this summer and be completed by the end of 2015.
The agency is holding a public hearing on the proposal Tuesday evening at a middle school in Colonie.
