CANTON, Miss. (AP) - State Aid funding to Madison County has been suspended due to reseal and overlay deficiencies on some roads, according to county officials.

The Madison County Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1ppoqQ3 ) that the board of supervisors was told about the problem this past week by Andrew Grant, business manager for the county road department.

Grant says the work needed to fix the problems was not budgeted. He says deficiencies involved five miles or overlay and 18 miles of reseal.

County Engineer Rudy Warnock says the road repairs are easy to prepare but would take around eight months to be approved by the Office of State Aid unless the projects could get sped up.

Supervisors told Warnock to talk with the Office of State Aid and report back at the board’s March meeting.
