RENO, Nev. (AP) - A 68-year-old Las Vegas man has been ordered to pay $3,500 in fines and penalties for deer poaching in southeast Nevada about 10 miles from the Utah line - some 200 miles from where he held a legal tag.
Nerces Sarkis Himidian was convicted in district court in Lincoln County on Feb. 14 of possession of a big game animal without a valid tag.
Nevada Department of Wildlife officials said in a statement Tuesday they seized the meat from the mule deer and are donating it to a food bank
Game warden Cameron Waithman says Himidian shot the buck in October in an area where hundreds of animals gather east of Pioche near Echo Canyon Reservoir. His legal tag was for western Elko County north of Interstate 80.
